Two Hikes May 2012

Dale and I in an effort to get in shape as well as enjoy nature more fully have set aside time to go on hikes in a variety of locations. Our first one took place in Rock Canyon by the Provo Temple.  It was a beautiful day and a fun hike. Dale took lots of flower pictures.

Maybe I should leave the phone in the car?

2nd Hike was with our whole family in Battlecreek Canyon walking to the falls on Memorial Day. It was a perfect hike for the little kids.

Kellie making sure Mack is secure behind Dad.

Here we go. Miles fell asleep on the way so Todd very willingly stayed behind in the car with him.

Mack was an angel and just enjoyed the ride.

Levi was trying hard to keep up with his little legs.

Teaching Emmie how to throw those rocks

We made it. Even with Zack falling and scraping his leg.
Andrew was very brave and took Levi, Owen and James to the top of the hill. They had fun scooting down on their bums.

Here is our trooper! We were all amazed at Kim's endurance being 8 mths along.  Another fun Hegerhorst Adventure.

Mother's Day 2012

My sweet husband always makes Mother's Day a special day for me. But he manages to do this everyday not just on Mother's Day. I am so grateful for my eternal companion.

Julie is a very grateful Mom today with her two very handsome boys!
Kellie is the photographer and Dan is the goofy man trying to get his boys to say "cheese"
I have to say I am a very lucky Grandma to have such precious Grandkids. Happy Grandma's Day to me!

After the party we were off to the Zoo. Jeni and Julie's families were unable to come but Kellie and McKay were able to join us.

Happy Birthday Cash!

Washington DC Part 2

Mt. Vernon was my favorite place to visit during this trip. I have a very deep respect for Pres. Washington and fell in love with his home.

What a view!

Krista and I were excited to take the National Treasure 2 Tour. This was the entrance to the cellar that was shown in the movie.
I was amazed at how large his estate was.

Beautiful vegetable and flower gardens

They had several of these life size statues made using his mask and the computer to estimate what Pres Washington looked like at different ages.

While Krista worked, I signed up for a trolley tour to save my poor tired legs. I thought this view of the Jefferson Memorial and the Washington Monuments was striking.

The National Cathedral

After eating a waffle at the shop behind me a very sweet older lady next to me insisted on paying for it. Her kindness truly humbled me.

Krista and I went to the Art Museums during her lunch break and on our way walked through this area and saw a steel tree. A pretty amazing site.

I was told on my tour to go to the Post Office and ride the elevator to the top to get a pretty view of the city. Since the Washington Monument is closed due to the earthquake this was a substitute. I am glad we took the driver's advice. It was spectacular!

The Bell is still rung by bell ringers that come monthly. I was told Donald Trump bought this building.

During that afternoon I took a tour of the capital that I had arranged through Senator Hatch's office. It had a new visitors area and movie about the capital that had been added since we were last there. I loved the murals and statues in the rotunda.

In the center of this room is a plaque on the floor that states it is the center of Washington DC.  There is statues all around the room. Each state has two statues in the capital. Utah's is Brigham Young and Philo Farnsworth (the man that invented TV).
